Best places for bangkok nightlife

Bangkok becomes the liveliest and electrifying capital in South-East Asia after the sun wanes. As the Hustle and Bustle of this fast-moving city ends, a completely new carefree city comes into action.

The nightlife is legendary and it comes to life with an explosion of music, dance, lights and a dose of madness and has an insane party culture. There are millions of things to do that even for a hardcore party animal it becomes overwhelming to choose because everything looks so appealing. A new club opens every week and clubbers are so spoilt in their choices, but unfortunately, the night is short.

  1. Sukhumvit Road

This road is the center for all the party animals. This area is directly accessible by the BTS(Skytrain) which runs over the Sukhumvit Road. Partying cannot get easier than this.

  • Octave Rooftop Bar and Lounge

This is Bangkok’s first rooftop lounge which gives an unmatched 360-degree Panoramic view of the city. The top floor of this three-level venue stands on the 45th floor of Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit is the highest party spot in the city.

  • Beam Nightclub

This vibrant club is one of the latest editions to Bangkok’s nightlife which has bought techno music to the bassheads of Bangkok. It is an underground dance club which has an ear shifting sound system and the European music policy is precise.

  • Soi Cowboy

This club was named after the cowboy hat-wearing African American who opened the first bar in Bangkok. This red light district looks like a fantasy and has a carnival-like feel. Flashy neon lights and colorful streetscape gives you an experience of a dark side of Bangkok culture where all the fantasies come true. Entry is free for everyone and drinks to have fixed prices.

Location: Located opposite to Terminal 21 and less than 100 meters from Sukhumvit Road, between Asoke Road and Sukhumvit Soi 23.

  • Demo and Funky Villa

It is actually two clubs connected together and people are free to move between the two hotspots to get different vibes which makes it one of the most famous clubs among the young Thai crowd. Both clubs offer distinct energy, Demo is much Darker with rock music and the Funky villa is more lively. You can choose where to spend time according to your mood.

The Demo is the coolest and the most fashionable club as its bare brick walls that are covered with graffiti, metal shutters and exposed metal pipes on the wall gives it a look of a warehouse. At Funky villa, you can dance your night away at some of the best Dj’s in Bangkok.

  • Levels

It has three distinct party zones all connected together in one place. This club is a combination of classy lounges, a rooftop bar and a clubbing box which has the best sound system in the city. The Entry is free here but sometimes they charge an entry fee when there’s a special event.

Siam is home to Bangkok’s most popular shopping centers. It is the center of shopping in Bangkok but it doesn’t mean that it has no nightlife. Siam doesn’t look busy at night but doesn’t underestimate this place as there is a good collection of late night bars and clubs that stay open until the sun comes up. You can enjoy live music, rocks bands, and dance throughout the night.

  • Groove

Groove at Central World is a part of Bangkok’s largest shopping mall. It’s a two story venue with various art installations. It hosts a number of stunning restaurants and bars that have breezy ambiences such as Apinara Thai Cuisine, American Fusion at S’Mores Hunting Lodge and famous patisserie FAUCHON.

  • Mixx

Mixx Discotheque Bangkok is located in Ploenchit in the basement of the Intercontinental hotel. It’s an upscale nightclub. It is well liked by young people for an after-hours party as it is up until around 06:00 in the morning.

It is a luxury rooftop bar and restaurant which is a combination of three majestic dining and entertainment establishments. It gives a 360-degree view of the city and brings an air of urban sophistication to Bangkok with fancy cocktails and lavish dining. It’s a classy venue which is situated exactly in the middle of the shopping district of the city.

  • Hard Rock Cafe

This cafe is an institution in itself where you can shred all your tiredness after a hectic day of roaming around the city. Big burgers, fancy drinks, and the crowd dancing to live music cheers up your mood and makes you groove to its infectious energy.

If you want to observe Bangkok’s night culture closely then this is the best place as you’ll get to drink and dance with locals here. Recommended for young people as an average age of most of the crowd is around 25. It’s a nice place to have a good value dinner.

3. Night Markets in Bangkok

  • Rot Fai Market, Srinakarin

Opening Hours: 17:00 to midnight (Thurs-Sun)

Location: Srinakarin Road Soi 51 (behind Seacon Square)

How to get there: BTS,On Nut (closest station but still requires a taxi journey)

Famous For: Retro memorabilia, gigantic size, delicious snacks, cheap fashionable clothes.

  • Asiatique

Opening Hours: 17:00 - midnight

Location: Chareonkrung Soi 74-76

How to get there: The easiest and fastest way to get there is via boat.

Famous For: Regional cuisines, River breezes, theatrical shows, statues.

  • Rot Fai Market, Ratchada

Opening Hours: 17:00-24:00 (Thursday-Sunday)

Location: Ratcadaphisek Road (close to Esplanade Shopping Mall)

How to get there: MRT, National Cultural Centre

Famous For: Live music, cheap whiskey, bargain fashion, cool drinking and snacking area.

4. Night Spots in Chinatown

  • China Princess Hotel Rooftop Bar

This place is very cost effective and gives a panoramic view of Chinatown. It is placed on the revolving top floor of China Princess Hotel and it takes 2 hours to complete one round. The restaurant serves all types of cuisine with live Piano as background music.

Location: Charoen Krung Road next to Old Siam Plaza

  • Bangkok Flower Market

Pak Klong Talad is the biggest wholesale and retail fresh flower market which has all kinds of flora-related items, including roses, lotus, forget me nots, orchids, lilies etc. The market is in full action at pre-dawn i.e 03:00 to 04:00. This is the most spectacular view when the market is flourished with colorful, blossomed flowers.

Opening Hours: 24 hours, more popular during night time.

Location: Chak Phet Road, the Memorial Bridge or Saphan Phut Chao Phraya pier

  • Yaowarat food exploration

The high street in Bangkok’s Chinatown is transformed into one of the greatest street food markets. This place becomes a food paradise at night but the traffic is very bad in this area. You will get to explore different cuisines here that too at very low prices.

Opening Hours: 18:00 to 21:00

MRT: Underground to Hua Lamphong Station

Then either a 15-minute walk or a short tuk-tuk ride.

  • Tep Bar Bangkok

It’s a cool bar and offers live music, tasty food, and cocktails.

  • Talat Kao

It one of the oldest central market in Chinatown which is famous for its Chinese delicacies. It gives you an insight into the culinary culture of the Chinese. This place is not for faint hearted especially for vegetarians who can’t even tolerate the smell of meat, fish etc.

Opening Hours: 20:00 - late

Location: Middle of Yaowarat, Soi Ta Lat Kao.
