Hanoi nightlife guide

Hanoi is located in the north of Vietnam and is the capital of the country. The city is famous for its vibrant street life and colonial architecture. It is the second most populous city (after Ho Chi Minh City) of Vietnam. Hanoi is located in the northern region of the country, situated in Vietnam’s Red River delta.

Hanoi is Asia’s most characterful city that delivers all the swirling mayhem of a busy Southeast Asian hub, with the unmistakable grace and confidence of a thousand-year-old city.

It is the most beautiful and colorful city not only in terms of its landscape but also the people who are as charming as the city. The city is full of historic buildings with very attractive architecture.

But this doesn’t mean that the city stands still and dull at night. The Old Quarter is the most happening place where you’ll spend all your money and time. All the activity and touristy spots are located here.

This is the place where most of the cafes, mid-budget Hotels, lounges, markets, clubs, street stalls, and shops are concentrated. This place is the heart of the city and it beats 24 hours and 7 days.

Here are few places where you can enjoy the nightlife of Hanoi

Bia Hoi Junction

This place is located at the center of the Old Quarter. This junction offers a wide range of beers for those with eclectic taste. If you haven’t soaked up the atmosphere for few hours and haven’t tried Hanoi’s famous Hoi(fresh beer), then your trip is incomplete and you have missed out a large part of

Hanoi’s culture. Sit on the small stools outside shops and drink beer with beef, steamed peanuts, and other exotic snacks.

This is probably the best idea to hang out with your friends and have a couple of drinks. Dance your night away on loud and techno music. Most of these places are affordable and usually offers happy hours. Everything from beer, wine to cocktails is served here.

Binh Minh’s Jazz Club

This is the unparalleled place to listen to one of the best music in Hanoi and if you have a thing for eclectic music and you love to listen to Jazz music then you are in the right place. Sometimes Minh himself comes to perform with his talented band and other international performers.

If you are not into jazz music then this is not a good place for you as drinks are expensive, probably because they include nighly entertainment charges.

Hanoi Press Club

Press Club is an upscale bar and restaurant with a sophisticated ambiance.

It is a stylish bar which is located on the large, third-floor terrace. This place offers a wide variety of drinks like beer, wine, and the cocktail with some amazing tasty bar snacks. There is live music from Thursday to Sunday.

Legend Beer

It is located on the top three stories of a building overlooking downtown Hanoi and Hoan Kiem lake. It has a sweeping terrace. This is the best place in Hanoi to enjoy ice cold Beer.

They not only serve Hoi(Hanoi's fresh beer) but they also offer a wide range of European and German beer. This place brews its own drinks, with wheat beer, lager and a dark stout all available in several sizes. Their menu also offers many German-style dishes.

The Bank Hanoi

This is currently the biggest nightclub in Hanoi that boasts three venues playing different music. This place is located on the 6th floor of Hanoi Capital building from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Hanoi and the Hoan Kiem lake.

The music here is comprised of hip-hop, top 40 hits, lounge, deep house, and house tunes while drinks here are relatively inexpensive compared to most nightclubs in Hanoi. This place mostly attracts a nicely dressed crowd, locals and tourists.

Sunset Bar at InterContinental

This place is an upscale bar located on a manmade island InterContinental Hanoi West Lakes that offers affluent travelers a superb designer spot to enjoy a cool evening cocktail far away from Hanoi’s crowds.

The place is very comfortable and the interior is very urban and classy. They offer a wide range of liquor. This place is easily accessible by a lit bridge.

Dragonfly Bar Lounge

This bar and lounge is a long-standing night spot in Hanoi’s Old Quarter that attracts young Vietnamese crowd and tourists. Dragonfly, large cocktails are very popular here and is worth spending money on. Head upstairs to enjoy a shisha pipe with a range of flavors available.

Everyone here prefers to mix and mingle to the tunes of the music(hip-hop or party pop) and grove to the songs being played. You can actually dance at this place as there is a dance floor also.

This place gives you a sports bar feel. This is a bar, pub, and restaurant which is located at the Old Quarter, Hanoi. What attracts young people most to this place is that they organize different theme parties every week which is such a refreshing and new concept.

King Pirates Club

If you want to give a twist to the usual drink that most people would like to have at a regular then, King Pirates Club is the best place to go. The place is not too big but they have a nicely-themed pub.

Also, there are some tables and chairs on the outside to accommodate more patrons. As you can get an idea from the name itself, expect to see pirate costumes and anything like that.

Water Puppet show

Puppets are manipulated by strings from above moving as if they were floating on water. This theatre showcases traditional content of water puppet performance like daily life of Vietnamese farmers (cultivating, tending buffalo, catching fishes…), communal entertainment (swimming contest, dragon dancing), or historical legends (Le Loi returns precious sword…).

The modest performances have appealed audiences for centuries. The theatre prides itself in being the only theatre across Asia that performs Water Puppetry all 365 days of a year and, is one of Vietnam’s best.

O’Leary’s Sports Bar

This place is your destination if you are a sports fan. They have branches in many other countries. The interior designing is done in such a way that it will make you feel nostalgic about some of the highlights of the sports events.

They have a typical western sports bar ambiance. They serve draft beer, cocktails, and spirits as well as western comfort food like burgers and fries.
